Criminal Case

Tobias Forge files report against alleged stalker – Swedish police open investigation

Tobias Forge, frontman of Ghost, has filed a police report in Sweden against a woman in her forties who allegedly stalked him since the summer of 2025. Swedish police have opened a preliminary investigation into harassment. Forge has gone on record about the case – and made clear he is not seeking compensation. He wants one thing: to be left alone.

What allegedly happened

According to the investigation file, the incidents began in July 2025. First came messages – via SMS and WhatsApp, repeatedly, effusive and intrusive. Interspersed with those: payment requests through the Swedish app Swish, multiple times, each for 5,000 Swedish kronor (approximately 430 euros). Forge declined and blocked her number.

That didn’t help. The woman switched to registered mail – which Forge ignored and left uncollected. Then she sent a mobile phone.

The device was what pushed Forge to act: “I didn’t want to keep it in my home, so I put it on the balcony before handing it over to the police.” He suspected the phone might have been tampered with. “With that phone, I reached my limit.”

The Swedish police preliminary investigation is ongoing. No formal charges have been filed and no verdict has been reached. The woman is presumed innocent until proven otherwise.

“About a dozen stalkers”

Forge is no stranger to this territory. In his statement to investigators, he mentioned having had “about a dozen stalkers” over the years. Most were relatively harmless. This woman was not: “No one has done anything as invasive and downright threatening as sending a mobile phone.”

The accused tells a different story. She claims she and Forge met around 16 years ago, have been in daily contact since, and became engaged in late September 2025. Forge says he has no recollection of ever meeting the woman – though he acknowledged she could theoretically have been present at a fan event. She declined to provide police with any chat records that might support her version of events.

Forge’s approach to the proceedings is notably measured: “I don’t want to make her life worse. I just want her to leave me alone and not hurt anyone else.” He is not seeking financial compensation.

According to Aftonbladet, the woman also faces investigations in separate cases involving two other people – for unlawful stalking, sexual assault, and multiple counts of assault. She has denied all allegations.

Ghost

Ghost were formed in 2006 in Linköping, Sweden. Forge is the creative force behind the band and performed anonymously for years as “Papa Emeritus” – a kind of demonic anti-pope. His identity was made public in 2017 through court proceedings, after former band members filed a lawsuit over royalties. The band won the Grammy for Best Metal Performance in 2016 for the song “Cirice.” Their most recent album is Skeletá (2025).
