Electric Callboy Announce TANZNEID – Album Number Seven Drops in August

Four years after “TEKKNO”, Electric Callboy have announced their seventh studio album. “TANZNEID” drops on August 7, 2026 – and a lot has happened behind the scenes for the band from Castrop-Rauxel.

Electric Callboy will release their new album “TANZNEID” on August 7. The band made the announcement on April 14 via social media, one week after confirming the album’s completion on Instagram: “THE ALBUM IS DONE. Like… finished finished.”

It marks the longest gap between two EC records. Since “TEKKNO” debuted at number one on the German album charts in September 2022, the band has lost a drummer, found a new one, and put out four singles.

Four Singles, a Cover, and a New Drummer

Things kicked off with “Elevator Operator” on January 24, 2025 – complete with a music video starring actor Uke Bosse as the elevator operator. Four months later came “Revery”. Fewer electronic samples, heavier guitars, a children’s choir. The band called the track “a darker, more serious side of our sound”.

In between, the big cut: on April 29, 2025, the band announced the departure of drummer David-Karl Friedrich. After 13 years – he had been with them since 2012, back when they were still called Eskimo Callboy – Friedrich wanted to “do something new”. He later spoke publicly about depression and burnout as reasons behind his decision.

The solution behind the kit came from a strange turn of events. At Good Things Festival 2024 in Australia, Friedrich had fallen ill. Frank Zummo, then still the drummer of Sum 41, learned the entire EC set in five hours and stepped in. When Sum 41 disbanded and Friedrich left, what started as an emergency became a permanent arrangement. Zummo has been drumming as EC’s touring drummer ever since – whether he’ll become an official member remains unconfirmed.

That connection led to a Sum 41 cover of “Still Waiting” in August 2025, recorded with Zummo behind the kit. “Sum 41 has been with us since our youth,” the band told Impericon. They shot the video across various summer festivals.

On October 31, 2025 – Halloween, naturally – the title track “Tanzneid” arrived with a sci-fi music video. The song blends metalcore riffs with phonk and club elements and doubled as the starting gun for the TANZNEID World Tour.

World Tour Across Four Continents

The tour has been running since November 2025 and stretches through 2026. After Europe and the UK, North American dates followed from April through May with Polaris and Scene Queen as support. Open-air shows in Austria are lined up for summer, Japan in August, Australia in September – the latter with Ice Nine Kills and Coldrain in tow.

What’s Still Missing

No tracklist for “TANZNEID” has been revealed yet. The label wasn’t mentioned in the announcement either – the band’s albums have been released through Century Media Records since 2017. The album cover is out but has only been described as “trippy” so far. Which of the four singles and the Sum 41 cover will make it onto the album remains to be seen.

What’s clear: between RATATATA with Babymetal – the track has racked up over 50 million YouTube views, served as the WWE theme for Bash in Berlin 2024, and landed on Babymetal’s album “Metal Forth” – and their four own singles, Electric Callboy have laid down plenty of groundwork since “TEKKNO”. August 7 will show what they’ve made of it.
